Estonia

I am planning to travel to Helsinki, then to Tallin & Tartu, then into St. Petersburg & Moscow. This would be about 6 months from now. I've heard some things about the Estonia/Russia boarder that lead to the conclusion that maybe I should plan to travel though Latvia? Also, on the way out I'm heading to Germany, is it best to get the Visa for Belarus or should I go through the Ukraine or Latvia? What kind of prices should I expect for these routes via train? "The Ukraine" is the name of the old region of the soviet union and that is the reason I used it. It is no longer officially used and I used it simply out of habit and I apologize if I offended anyone but I get the feeling from your tone that you weren't aware that "the ukraine" was ever correct. I imagine it's more expensive to travel from Finland - everything there is pricey. The things I've heard about the border of Estonia involve the recent politics between Russia and Estonia and I know that last year the routes were completely closed for a while and last I heard they weren't completely back up.
